Across America To Empower Americans About Health Care Choices

San Francisco, CA, June 6, 2011 In a historic effort to lead a movement bringing empowerment and increased choices in health care to Main Street, America, Dr. Dennis Godby, ND, will run across the USA for the second time – this time with his two sons and nephew. The Run: Moving Natural Medicine Forward begins in San Francisco on July 17, 2011, and ends in Bridgeport, CT on November 16, 2011. This coast-to-coast Run is designed to educate and empower Americans about natural health care options: in preventing disease, finding and treating the cause of illness, and revitalizing the nation’s health. Its mission includes increasing the health of the American people, providing information about sustainable and quality holistic health care options, and educating the public about healthy lifestyle management and health maintenance.

Dr. Godby is starting the Run in San Francisco on July 17, 2011.  The Run will be hosting a public event sponsored by San Francisco Natural Medicine featuring speakers, dancers from the Fei Tian Academy, and Dr. Godby’s send-off from 9:00 am-10:30 am at Jackson Recreation Center, 17th Street & Arkansas Street on Potrero Hill, San Francisco.  Renowned naturopathic doctor and American Association of Naturopathic Medicine President Carl Hangee-Bauer will be speaking at the event. The Run thanks Professional Complementary Health Formulas for sponsoring the first leg of their journey from San Francisco to Sacramento, CA.

A Natural Approach to Wellness Naturopathic Medicine is a natural approach to health and healing that recognizes the integrity of the whole person and represents the ‘vitalistic’ tradition of medicine in our Western world. It treats disease through the stimulation, increase, and support of each person’s inherent healing capacity.  Treatments are chosen to work with the patient’s natural adaptive physiology, respecting the innate healing processes of nature. The practice of Naturopathic Medicine includes six underlying principles of healing – principles that make Naturopathic Medicine different from all other medical approaches:

  • First Do No Harm: Utilize the most natural, least invasive, and least toxic therapies.
  • The Healing Power of Nature: Trust in the body’s inherent wisdom to heal itself.
  • Identify and Treat the Causes: Look beyond the symptoms to the underlying cause.
  • Doctor as Teacher: Educate patients in the steps to achieving and maintaining health.
  • Treat the Whole Person: View the body as an integrated whole in all its physical and spiritual dimensions.
  • Prevention: Focus on overall health, wellness and disease prevention.

Dr. Godby states, The American people have a right to know about their health care options beyond pharmaceutical drugs and surgery. The time has come for patients to understand their crucial role in making health care decisions.  My team and I believe that the best health care is achieved through full empowerment and education of the patient.”  And, Dr. Hangee-Bauer, a speaker at the event says, “I knew I wanted to be involved in The Run because I think it is critically important to let people know they have true options in their health care when they are better informed of their choices”.
