Tabatha Parker, President of Naturopathic Doctors International, to be Recognized by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine as 2015 Honorary Degree Recipient

Honorary degree recognizes Dr. Parker’s international leadership in the field of naturopathic medicine

TORONTO, May 14, 2015 – The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) is excited to announce that Tabatha Parker, ND, will be the recipient of the honorary degree at this year’s 35th convocation ceremony.

She is the co-founder of Natural Doctors International (NDI) – the first and oldest naturopathic global health organization focusing on service, education and policy. As President of NDI, she has led the organization for over a decade: starting the first permanent global naturopathic clinic, developing unique global health courses and inter-disciplinary internships and collaborating with the naturopathic profession in important global health policy work with the World Health Organization. That work has led to the formation of the World Naturopathic Federation (WNF), a Toronto-based non-profit that will launch in June of this year. Dr. Parker is currently the Director of Education for the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine and serves as Co-chair of the Masters in Global Health program at the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Parker has been one of the key architects of the valuable and recognized role that has been established for naturopathic doctors in international health care,” said Bob Bernhardt, PhD, President and CEO, CCNM. “Tabatha has personally hosted scores of CCNM students at the NDI clinic in Nicaragua. She is an ideal choice and an individual who honours CCNM by her presence at convocation.”

I’ve had the pleasure of working with CCNM students at our Nicaragua clinic over the years. They are a testament to the excellent quality of education and training being provided at the College,” said Dr. Parker. “My sincerest thanks to the College for this recognition.”

Dr. Parker earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado Boulder in Women’s Studies and her naturopathic degree from NCNM. She currently lives in San Diego with her husband and two children.

She will receive the honorary degree at this year’s convocation which will take place on Thursday, May 21.
