Kurt Doege, Ph.D. has joined Bio-Tech Pharmacal, Inc.

Bio-Tech Pharmacal, Inc. in Fayetteville, AR is pleased to announce that Kurt Doege, Ph.D. has joined their team as their new Quality Control Manager. His primary focus will be on new product development. Kurt said he is very happy to be back in Northwest Arkansas after his most recent position as Associate Professor at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Kurt’s experience includes basic biomedical research at various academic institutions around the country including Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland; the University of South Florida in Tampa; and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Kurt’s Ph.D. research was in Molecular Biology at UCLA where he became interested in the area of gene regulation, especially pertaining to joint tissues. He later focused his research on genes in cartilage and how it might benefit arthritis treatment through a better understanding of the factors that modulate cartilage synthesis. His transition to a business environment is enhanced by the interest of Bio-Tech Pharmacal in promotion of research into the health benefits of vitamin/neutraceutical supplementation. Kurt hopes to interface with academic researchers utilizing Bio-Tech Pharmacal products, and foster connections with the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Kurt is an Arkansas native, born in central Arkansas, however, moved around the country quite a bit. Kurt received a B.S. in Chemistry in 1974 from the University of Arkansas. He also pursued a minor in comparative literature, and was a proud member of the razorback swim team for two years, competing in the old Southwest Conference. Kurt has two children attending college in Oregon. Kurt’s interests include old motorcycles, fiddle music, and low-impact homebuilding.
