"A Bastyrian Winter Madrigal Feast" Dinner Theatre in the Bastyr Chapel
November 20, 2010
A Madrigal Dinner or Madrigal Feast is an American form of dinner theatre often hosted by schools and churches during the Christmas season. It is set in the Middle Ages, generally comedic in nature and features music, drama, minstrel performances and good food. The “Bastyrian Winter Madrigal Feast,” now in its second year, is hosted by the Bastyr University Musica Medica Chamber Choir as a fundraiser for the Bastyr University Arts Fund.
On November 20 Bastyr’s elegant chapel will be transformed into a castle dining hall, complete with festive decorations and period costumes. The evening revolves around a medieval meal of organic, locally produced food divided into courses, each of which is heralded with a brass fanfare and traditional song and served by our Woodland Faeries. This year, choral music selections will be interspersed throughout the evening, and the audience is invited to join in a sing-along of holiday carols. The evening will also include a play if enough performers volunteer.
