DESCRIPTION:HOME: Crafting an Herbal Smoking Mixture\n\n\nMonday\, March 12\, 2018 | 6 – 8 p.m. \nNUNM Academic Building\, 49 SW Porter. Map & Directions \nWhile smoking is generally discouraged for health\, herbal smoking mixtures can be useful tools in a number of clinical applications. They can help people reduce or eliminate tobacco and Cannabis use\, and are even used successfully as an adjunctive treatment for narcotics recovery. In this class\, herbalist Nome McBride will explore the many herbs we use to make a smoking formula both for clinical recovery as well as ceremony or recreation. We’ll cover the different aspects of making the smoking blend including texture\, mixing herbs\, effects and synergies\, along with a few secret tips gleaned from Nome’s years of experience. We’ll review simple techniques for you or your patients to use at home\, and participants will make their own blends to keep at the end of the class. \n2.0 hours of general CEUs pending OBNM approval. \nAbout the presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nNome McBride is an herbalist\, educator\, musician\, and ceremonialist. He lives part of the year in the Columbia Gorge with his son\, where they enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest. He spends the rest of his time in the Peruvian Amazon. Nome has been teaching throughout the region for many years in private herbal schools and at NUNM and Bastyr. Nome was the cofounder of the now-closed Pharmacopia Herbals product line\, whose products have supplied the finest herb retailers\, manufacturers and natural physicians in the country for over 12 years. Now that the extract line is closed\, he is focusing his energy at his Peruvian retreat center\, Los Cielos Peru\, and distribution of the highest grade superfoods through his new partnership with Purium Corp.
