book_coverStop Being Stopped is a motivating compilation of genuine principles for living a healthy, vibrant and vivacious life.

“The number one cause of chronic disease in the failure to practice the principles of healthy living, such as eating a nutritious diet, getting regular exercise and avoiding smoking. As a result, conditions such as high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and obesity have contributed to a significant rise in chronic disease in recent years. In fact, over 60% of adults in the U.S. and Canada are classified as overweight or obese” (p. 3). Dr. Karen Lee Paquette’s book lobbies for the recognition of growing harm to our society that such unhealthy practices bring. More powerfully though, Paquette provides inspiring remedies to transform the standards of unhealthy thinking into a roadmap for individual success.

The roadmap to a “healthier, sexier you” embarks on four destinations, all fueled by the power of passion:

  1. unlimited energy
  2. endless desire
  3. effortless discipline
  4. tremendous willpower

The roadmap is unraveled in seven chapters, four of which explain in detail the destinations. Each chapter builds on the next, with the culmination of Paquette’s philosophy in a chapter entitled “Your Medical Guide.” This final segment of the book composes all of the health questions an individual may ask to determine the hidden truth behind how they feel.

“When our actions aScreen Shot 2015-10-28 at 11.11.57 AMre not inspired from the inside out, we are unable to tap into the power of passion. When we focus on judgment rather than on creating strategies that enhance our lives, we also diminish self value, making it even more difficult to become passionate about our health” (p. 5).

Paquette makes it possible for patient and doctor alike to see themselves from a place of power and possibility, transforming even what they may have thought was unachievable. This is a book meant to be read by all who desire to create the internal, self-motivating declaration of health empowerment.

Stop Being Stopped best exhibits the power of the naturopathic principle of Docere. Paquette’s book educates and passionately encourages self-responsibility for health. The book also instructs the reader in ways that health may be realistically achieved by providing a foundation of empowerment, a good dose of reality and respect for individual needs.
