AANP Launches Cancer Care Program

Creating Integrative Cancer Teams: Learning from those who Make it Work

    Program Description
Integrative, interdisciplinary medicine is the future of healthcare. Optimal health is achieved through personalized health care that addresses the cause of the illness and the mind, body, spirit and environmental factors impacting health. This is particularly important for cancer patients. A personalized approach to integrative cancer care combines treatments from standard medical care for cancer — chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgical interventions –with complementary therapies like nutrition, physical therapy, acupuncture, psychosocial or spiritual support.

Creating Integrative Cancer Teams: Learning from those who Make it Work is a two-day event that will arm you with clinical knowledge, the latest research and integrative team-building best practices you can use immediately. Use a team of experts in Eastern and Western medicine to treat the whole patient and improve outcomes. Your patients will thank you for it.

How the Personalized Approaches to Integrative Cancer Care Conference is Unique

    At the conference you will:

    • Participate in Grand Rounds to learn how integrative teams tackle clinical challenges.
    • Learn the evidence base for integrative cancer care.
    • Learn best practices for forming and communicating with your integrative team.
    • Hear how medical oncologists, naturopathic physicians, oncology nurses, dietitians, acupuncturists, social workers and other participants in the integrative team leverage their expertise, while serving in distinct roles.
    • Meet companies and vendors with resources and products designed to assist with personalized care.
    • Network with other health care professionals interested in building integrative teams.
