Bastyr Center for Natural Health Scores High Marks with Patients

Naturopathic News

Teaching clinic earns second consecutive year of stellar results in regional patient satisfaction survey.

Kenmore, Wash. (March 4, 2014) — Newly released findings from the Washington Health Alliance show that once again, patients have a positive experience when visiting Bastyr Center for Natural Health, the Seattle teaching clinic of Bastyr University.

Bastyr Center ranked in the top five in each of the survey’s four categories, scoring at or above the regional 90th percentile:

· Getting timely appointments, care and information
· How well providers communicate with patients
· Helpful, courteous and respectful office staff
· Overall rating of the provider

The Washington Health Alliance survey, “Your Voice Matters: Patient Experience with Primary Care Providers in the Puget Sound Region,” is the only report of its kind. It is a nationally developed and standardized patient experience survey that covers 46 medical groups with clinics in 185 locations across the Puget Sound. In the summary of results, Bastyr Center was one of five medical facilities to receive the highest marks.

“To be recognized for this level of sustained excellence is extremely satisfying,” said Bastyr Center Chief Medical Officer Jamey Wallace, ND. “It illustrates what we have always believed in – taking the time to understand our patients and giving them the time and attention they deserve results in a positive experience for all involved.”

The high marks Bastyr Center received this year mirror its results from the alliance’s inaugural survey from May 2012. The difference? This year there were even more primary care clinics and hospital systems rated, and more patients who responded to the survey.
