Special May Promotion for Naturopathic Doctors to
Benefit “The Run: Moving Natural Medicine Forward”
Watsonville, CA (April 25, 2011) Nordic Naturals® announced today that its Professional Division will offer naturopathic doctors a special promotion during the month of May, with proceeds benefitting “The Run: Moving Natural Medicine Forward.” For each direct order placed with Nordic Naturals by a naturopathic doctor during May, Nordic Naturals will offer a 15% discount to the practitioner and give 5% of the total order as a cash donation to support the launch of The Run.
Brainchild of Dr. Dennis Godby, naturopathic doctor and long distance runner, The Run is a pilot project to introduce “naturopathic medicine” into the national vocabulary and make “naturopathic doctor” a household term. The Run will lead to increased health care options for Americans by stimulating interest in naturopathic care, drawing attention to the need for expanded state licensure, and encouraging more comprehensive insurance coverage for this alternate primary care choice. Dr. Godby, son Isaiah Godby, son Jeremiah Godby and nephew Jonas Ely, will cross the United States on foot, with support crew in tow, to promote the causes of naturopathic medicine, throughout America.
“Naturopathic medicine transforms lives and tremendously benefits the people that know and experience these powerful, non-toxic systems of healing,” says Dr. Godby. “Unfortunately, only a tiny fraction of the American population is aware that this option of healing is available.” In an historic effort to bring the naturopathic opportunity to the consciousness of all Americans, a 3,250 mile transcontinental run will explode across the nation—beginning in San Francisco, CA on July 17th, 2011, and ending in Bridgeport, CT on November 16th, 2011.

No stranger to using running as a means of activism, Dr. Godby adds, “The Run is the culmination of 32 years and 45,000 miles of running. My first adventure run, while in college studying exercise physiology and nutrition, was a 37-day, 1,420 mile solo journey from Corvallis, OR to Calgary, Canada to promote exercise and nutrition. Then in 1984-85, I ran 3,006 miles from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. during 16 weeks of winter to promote peace and justice in Central America. In the media, this event became known as a ‘run of conscience’.”
