Finding Spirit: Zen and Chinese Medicine

February 26, 2011 - February 27, 2011

Explore the role of zen cultivation in the development and practice of Chinese medicine and the intertwining history of the two disciplines. We will discuss the nature of zen realization and how they relate to well being and the practice of healing. Perhaps most useful, you will learn introductory zen techniques and directly experience the meridians, points and other energetic structures that are intrinsic to the human experience.

This knowledge is particularly useful in working with knotty diseases, and diseases of karmic origin and possessions – in particular the sorts of conditions dealt with in the Nan Jing (Difficult Classic). Discover new methods of insight and templates for evaluation of patient conditions, causes and strategies. These new methods can be very useful in understanding why some patients do not respond in usual ways, why seemingly minor illnesses remain entrenched, how to approach lifelong illnesses, and how to enlist the patient themselves in the improvement of their lives. Additionally, you will explore the natures of mind intention and awareness, the role they play in the human experience, and how to work more effectively with these tools.

Upon completion of the seminar you will be able to:

  • Practice the Spiritual Understanding of Nature qi gong form for health and enlightenment.
  • Practice the Standing Stake qi gong form for stilling desires and subduing the grasping heart.
  • Describe the human body life energy field and how it creates the human experience.
  • Describe the cause and effect of grasping mind intention and the false heart on the energy field.
  • Detect qi sensations within and without the body using methods learned in the seminar.
  • Demonstrate how to look for high and low vibrations.
  • Recite the universal mantra for health and enlightenment.
  • List the three natures and their relationship to Chinese medicine.
