Living Legends Dinner

Don’t forget to RSVP if you’re interested in attending the Living Legends Dinner Saturday night (December 3rd). Contact Marie Schramke if you are interested in attending.

This award banquet is a partnership between OANP and NCNM and is designed to honor those in our field who have worked tirelessly in leadership, in the community, and in their own practices. The celebration is free, thanks to HerbPharm and NCMIC. It’s our way of giving back to all you leaders in our community that have dedicated your blood, sweat and tears to moving naturopathic medicine forward!

Please attend and help us honor this year’s Living Legend recipient Rick Marinelli, ND, MSOM, DAAPM.

Get a jump start on the 45 CE you need for licensure in 2012!

Remember that Oregon allows you to roll any CE taken in December over to the next year. If you already have all your CE for 2011, why not get a jump start on 2012?

Pharmacy & Ethics Seminar Speakers
Here’s a highlight of our esteemed Pharmacy & Ethics speakers – the best reasons to come to the event!

Treatment of anxiety and depression across the lifespan
Bob Julien, MD – Previously an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Anesthesiology at OHSU, Dr. Julien practiced anesthesiology in Portland, Oregon until 2006. An acclaimed teacher and author, Dr. Julien recently published the 12th edition of his psychopharmacology textbook, A Primer of Drug Action which has now been in continuous publication for 30 years and is the definitive textbook of psychopharmacology, covering both psychotherapeutic agents as well as substances of abuse. Dr. Julien lectures widely on psychopharmacology, brings clarity and understanding to the most complex of topics, and we are extremely lucky and grateful to have him join us!

Polypharmacy and aging
Lori and Mitch Stargrove, NDs – you get two great lecturers for the price of one! This dynamic duo are two of the naturopathic community’s preeminent experts in the field of drug-herb interactions. They helped author and publish Herb, Nutrient, and Drug Interactions: Clinical Implications and Therapeutic Strategies, which is widely becoming recognized as the “bible” on drug-herb-nutrient interactions.

Treating migraines
Tori Hudson, ND & Kimberly Hutchison, MD – both are doing a tag team on different kinds of migraines and ways to approach them. Dr. Hudson is a legend in her own right, and Dr. Hutchison brings years of experience as a board-certified neurologist to the table.

Co-management of oncology patients’ pharmacological considerations
Shauna Birdsall, ND, FABNO – lives, eats and breathes naturopathic oncology (can you eat oncology?). After completing a two year residency at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Dr. Birdsall went on to complete her Fellowship of American Board of Naturopathic Oncology, and is now the Director of Naturopathic Medicine at the CTCA’s Arizona campus. You may not be able to find more knowledge about treating your cancer patients in one place.

Management of asthma and COPD
Natalie Gustafson, PharmD – back by popular demand, Natalie’s lectures are packed with pearls, case studies and tips you can use in your practice tomorrow. Natalie is a member of the Formulary Council of the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine. So if you have any formulary questions, you’ve come to the right place!

Ethics in the naturopathic practice
Nicholas Kockler, PhD, MS – is a Senior Ethicist at the Providence Center for Health Care Ethics who serves as the primary point person for ethics at Providence Medical Center. Not only that, but he has first-hand experience working with NDs on a personal level!
