A solid grasp of the “actions” of herbs is foundational to using herbs effectively. Dr. Stansbury will help beginning herbal clinicians develop their working lists of the best anti-microbials for various tissues, the best anti-spasmodics for various tissues, the best nervines, vulneraries, carminatives and so on. You will receive a good foundation in traditional herbal material medica, vocabulary and important therapeutic actions.
Learning Objective
- Gain a working knowledge of therapeutic vocabulary unique to herbal medicine such as carminative, diaphoretic, tonic, alterative, adaptogenm rubefacient, and counter irritant.
- Review the main actions desired for the major body organ systems including musculoskeletal, renal, hepatic, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, urinary, immune, nervous, endocrine, and dermatologic systems.
- Receive suggestions on 2-3 leading material medica options for each organ system such an antimicrobials, antispasmodics, astringents diuretics, cholagogue, immune-modulator etc.
