Course Overview
The age-related decline in hormones in men, known as andropause, can cause a myriad of symptoms whose etiology is often misunderstood by clinicians. These symptoms can include fatigue, depression, insomnia, and sexual dysfunction. Due in part to a large amount of direct-to-consumer advertising by the pharmaceutical industry, treatment of men with low testosterone, or “Low T”, has been greatly oversimplified. Only with a thorough understanding of the complex physiology of the male endocrine system can a clinician successfully and safely address the pathophysiology of low testosterone. This webinar will help give clinicians the confidence to treat male patients suffering from andropause with appropriate evidence based hormone prescriptions and follow-up.
Attend this presentation to confidently:
-Understand the physiology of male sex hormones and how they change with age
-Understand the current controversy about treating men with exogenous testosterone
-Order appropriate laboratory testing for the evaluation of hormones in men
-Prescribe various methods of hormone replacement including physiologic dosing of testosterone
-Understand the risks and benefits of adjunct therapies for hormone balancing, including clomiphene, HCG, progesterone, melatonin, chrysin, anastrazole, finasteride, and others
-Understand steroid metabolism and how it relates to patient monitoring
-Implement necessary monitoring parameters to ensure treatment safety and efficacy
