Conflict Management: When ‘Off with Their Heads!’ Won’t Work

September 29, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Overview

When ‘Off with Their Heads!’ Won’t Work presents an overview of five conflict resolutions strategies plus six simple tips for getting past upsets and conflicts at work and in life. Using a combination of models and real-life stories, you will learn which strategies are most appropriate for specific situations.

Why should you Attend?

While conflict is not a direct line item on the income statement, it is definitely significant cost of doing business. 85% of employees report they experience conflict on the job and managers say they spend 50% of their time dealing with that conflict. Take a moment and calculate the cost of half the salary of each of the managers in your company of the course of a year. Depressing isn’t it?

Additionally, according to a study conducted by Korn Ferry Institute, the leading executive search firm in the world, 46% of professionals list conflict management as the #1 most difficult skills to develop.

On a personal level, an inability to successfully navigate conflict situations can lead to increased stress, physical illness, depression, reduced self esteem, career stagnation, divorce and worse.

There are a variety of ways to deal with conflict, however some are more appropriate to specific situations and using the wrong approach can set potential resolution back or derail it altogether. Similarly, if you always default to the same strategy, you’ll be less effective, lose respect of your peers and/or create unnecessary roadblocks or derailments to progress on important goals, both personal and business.
