Description:

The class is ideal for any health and wellness practitioner to develop a strong energetic transforming body to avoid physical fatigue, energy depletion, and mental and emotional burn-out in their practice. You will achieve a healthier balance in mind, body and spirit – seeking to maintain wellness in your life.

The focus of this class is Yi Ren Medical Qigong philosophy and the natural steps of internal Qi-energy activation, cultivation, grounding and circulation, as well as how they relate to basic Qigong theory and principles. In addition, you will explore methods and techniques for direct, experiential understanding of the functions of Du-Ren energy pathways in managing the activities of the autonomic nervous system.

The class is a combination of lecture, discussion and qigong practice. In addition to the 45 hours of in-class instruction, you should expect to complete at least 30 hours of qigong practice outside of class, and approximately 20 hours of reading.

This is the first class of the non-credit Medical Qigong Self-Care Certificate Program open to licensed health care professionals, other health and wellness practitioners in a client-practitioner relationship (i.e., energy workers, yoga instructors), and students in a health practitioner program.

This seminar has been designed for health care professionals; however, the general public is invited to attend as well.

Upon completion of this seminar you will be able to:

Explain the concept of internal qi activation.

Demonstrate the Yi Ren medical qigong internal qi activation, cultivation, grounding and circulation exercises.

Explain the qigong theoretical basis of each exercise.

Demonstrate the practices of relaxation of the mind and body, and explain how to maintain an appropriate state of mind for qigong practice.

Practice Yi Ren medical qigong self-care and self-healing exercises at home while following the provided DVD and manual.

For further background on medical qigong, you may wish to read the article entitled Qi-Cultivation and Dao – Integrating Theory with Experience: Medical Qigong for Healing and Health Care, by Jill Gonet and Guan-Cheng Sun.

Guan-Cheng Sun, PhD

Guan-Cheng Sun is the core instructor of the program. He is the developer of Yi Ren Medical Qigong and founder of the Institute of Qigong and Integrative Medicine in Seattle. Guan-Cheng earned his PhD in molecular genetics from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies in Japan in 1993.

Guan-Cheng is a qigong teacher with over 35 years of practice in a program which he began learning at the age of nine from his grand-uncle in China. Guan-Cheng ‘s Yi Ren system of medical qigong allows a person to develop internal energy right away, so that one’s own internal energy system activation and cultivation promotes the prevention and healing of chronic illnesses. Guan-Cheng ’s understanding of modern molecular genetics and scientific principles, as well as his experience with internal energy cultivation, allows him to create a unique bridge between cultures.

One of Guan-Cheng ’s contributions as a qigong therapist and instructor is his ability to communicate with individuals at the subtle energy level and to transmit healing energy to others. He has developed specific qigong healing methods for type 2 diabetes, chronic lower back pain, cancer reoccurrence, arthritis, and other common health concerns.

Guan-Cheng has completed mind-body medicine and energy medicine research at Bastyr University, as well as taught qigong academic classes at Bastyr. He is also the author of Yi Ren Medical Qigong – A Guide to a Better-Functioning Body and a Peaceful Mind, and Yi Ren Medical Qigong Manuals I, II, III, IV, V and VI.
