CE & License Renewal Requirements: 
This event offers 10 hours of pharmacy CE, 2 hours of ethics CE, and 6 hours of Pain Management CE (which may overlap with pharmacy or general CE). Any CE obtained in December but not needed for license renewal in that year may be carried over to the next year’s renewal. Pharmacy & ethics CE not needed for those requirements may also be used as General CE.

Program Manual:
The program manual will be available BY DOWNLOAD ONLY. There will be stations available at the conference to download materials, but we recommend downloading all materials BEFORE ATTENDING the conference.

Pain Management CE/CME Required by Law:
Oregon law requires all health care providers to obtain 7 hours of pain management education within 2 years of licensure. You can obtain 6 of these hours by attending this conference (see breakdown). The 7^th hour is a one-hour online tutorial that you must review. Contact the OBNM for information on this online tutorial. Pain CE may overlap with Rx or General CE.

You may register for “Saturday,” “Sunday No Ethics,” or “Sunday Ethics Only” as individual blocks or in any combination. Register for both full days for the best deal! For example, to register for all day Sunday, you would register for the Sunday No Ethics and the Sunday Ethics Only blocks.

Webinar: the webinar option is only available for out-of-state NDs. If your address is not out-of-state, we will, unfortunately, not be able to send you the links to the recording.

• Students, Residents, and New Grads. You don’t need the CE, but this is important stuff!

Speaker Bios:
Andy Mendenhall, MD

Dr. Mendenhall is Medical Director of Hazelden in Beaverton, OR, a multidisciplinary addiction medicine and pain management clinic. He is board certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine and a diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. His subspecialty is caring for the persistent pain patient with addiction and chemical dependency issues.

Tori Hudson, ND

Dr. Hudson graduated from National College of Natural Medicine in 1984, where she has also served as Medical Director, Academic Dean, and is still a professor today. She is currently medical director of her private clinic, “A Woman’s Time,” has received numerous awards for her work in women’s health, is a pioneer in developing new residency opportunities for ND graduates, and serves on many editorial boards and advisory panels.

Catriona Buist, Psy.D

Catriona is the Clinical Director of Progressive Rehabilitation Associates’ CARF accredited interdisciplinary pain management program. She was appointed Vice-Chairperson of the Oregon Pain Management Commission, is actively involved in the Pain Society of Oregon, and has presented to numerous organizations regionally on the psychological aspects of pain management.

Alena Guggenheim, ND

Dr. Guggenheim graduated from NCNM in 2007 and completed a  two-year residency with Dr. Martin Milner in the fall of 2009. She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Helfgott Research Institute teaching in the Masters of Science in Integrative Medical Research program and Adjunct Assistant Professor at NCNM teaching Clinical Physical Diagnosis and Rheumatology.

Joseph Gabriele, PhD

Dr. Gabriele is a Molecular Pharmacologist specializing in the field of signal transduction pathways in numerous disease states. His postdoctoral training was on the molecular pharmacological effects of antipsychotic medications in patients with schizophrenia. He was recently appointed to the National Research Council of Canada to continue his research on molecular pathways affected by pharmacological and natural molecules.

John Hahn, DPM, ND

A graduate of NCNM and the California College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Hahn was in private naturopathic and podiatric practice in Oregon for XX years and is currently semi-retired. He is a past professor at Pioneer Pacific College and OHSU, and author of numerous articles for Journal of Longevity, Podiatry Today, Naturopathic Doctors News and Review, The TOWNSEND Letter and more.

Kevin Wilson, ND, DAAPM

Dr. Wilson has been a career-long advocate of the naturopathic profession. His current passion is in promoting the profession’s competence in and understanding of the treatment and management of chronic pain. He is the 2012 recipient of the OANP/NCNM Living Legends Award.

Steven Sandberg-Lewis, ND, DHANP

Dr. “SSL” is a professor at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. He has taught GI physiology, pathology and gastroenterology since 1996. In continuous practice since graduating from NCNM in 1978, he supervises the treatment of GI conditions by student clinicians at the NCNM Clinic. Sandberg-Lewis authored the textbook Functional Gastroenterology: Assessing and addressing the causes of functional gastrointestinal disorders.

Roy Huggins, MS, NCC

A mental health counselor in private practice who also directs Person-Centered Tech, Roy worked as a professional Web developer for 7 years before changing paths. Roy also acts as Technology Chair for the Oregon Counseling Association. He routinely consults with health care colleagues on ethical and practical issues surrounding tech in clinical practice.

Chris Booren, ND

Dr. Booren has been in the health field since 1987, first as a Clinical Nutritionist and then a Naturopathic Physician (2000). She has a thriving clinical practice in SW Portland where she practices like an “old style” doctor. Her years “on the ground” in different health care fields gives her a unique perspective on the daily ethical dilemmas and decisions clinicians face in private practice.
