SCNM Seeks Physicians to Participate in Field Observation Program

We are currently recruiting physicians to participate in our Field Observation program this summer, and serve as mentors to our first and second year medical students. As part of our new curriculum, students receive clinical training experience in their first year.

During the Intro to Clinical Practice course/lab, students develop skills in taking vitals and a medical history as well as physical exam and basic differential diagnosis skills. They learn ethics, communication skills, jurisprudence, public health/epidemiology, HIPAA, and OSHA and complete all the requirements for their Clinical Training Certificate.

The Field Observation Program was established to provide students with opportunities to observe health care practitioners. This allows students to strengthen their clinical skills and broaden their clinical experiences by observing a variety of physician-patient communication styles, therapeutic modalities and clinical conditions. Students also observe business management strategies for creating a successful practice.

The Field Observation Program is usually scheduled between July 7th 2014. Deborah Turner, our Field Observation Coordinator, serves as a liaison between SCNM students and the participating physicians.

Our request is that you will be able to mentor one or more of our students during this 12 week period. If you are willing to be a part of the program, please contact Deborah Turner, Field Observation Coordinator or Dipak Panchal, Field Observation Assistant.

In addition, according to the Rules of the Arizona Naturopathic Physicians Board of Medical Examiners, under ARTICLE 2. R4-18-205. Continuing Medical Education Requirements, SCNM will award you 8 hours of CME credit.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to participate in our Field Observation Program. We greatly appreciate your service and dedication to our future naturopathic physicians.
