ASHBURN, VA – PIH Academy, an educational initiative of PERQUE Integrative Health, aims to provide healthcare practitioners with a deeper understanding of Physiology First as the philosophy underpinning the practice of Functional Medicine. Now in its second year of offering live courses, PIH Academy is introducing its first digital on-demand course.
The popular inaugural course, “Physiology First: Practical Applications” taught by integrative medicine pioneer and thought-leader, Russell Jaffe, MD, PhD, CCN, is now available on-demand. This in-depth, eight lecture review of the physiology underlying some of the most common conditions healthcare practitioners manage can now be conveniently watched anytime, anywhere. The course has been approved for 14 hours of continuing education credits for chiropractors and naturopathic physicians.
“The human body is capable of amazing renewal and resilience when obstacles are removed,” said Russell Jaffe. He explains he developed this course because all too often, even within natural medicine, disease is thought of as externally caused, and therefore practitioners focus on “fighting” and “defeating” disease. “Equipped with a deeper understanding of the underlying physiology, practitioners are better prepared to focus on evoking the body’s innate healing response rather than fighting with disease.”
Throughout the 8 lectures, Dr. Jaffe shares academic knowledge and practical applications. Participants will learn to interpret standard (and some specialty) labs with a functional approach. Dr. Jaffe’s goal is to help practitioners create a more effective personalized proactive prevention practice by better utilizing functional tests with predictive goal values and gaining new insights to help refine their approach to functional nutrition.
