The Connecticut Naturopathic Physicians Association is going to testify this Friday, March 14th, to the Legislature about our proposals for updating, modernizing and expanding the Naturopathic Scope of Practice. We would like to have you present in Hartford to support our efforts.

BACKGROUND

CNPA went through a lengthy Department of Public Health (DPH) “Scope of Practice Committee” review of our proposals over the past months. That process is finished but DPH is very late issuing the final report. The Public Health Committee did not raise our bill because the DPH report was not issued. Our lobbyist got an agreement to have our bill language attached to House Bill 5537 but several days later that promise was taken off the table. Our bill has not been raised nor is it attached to another bill.

While we await the release of the report we will still pursue our list of proposed changes for the Naturopathic profession at Friday’s public hearing. CNPA AND A UB CONTINGENT IS TESTIFYING AT THIS HEARING TO MAKE THE CASE TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS AND ITS MEMBERS TO ATTACH OUR BILL LANGUAGE TO HOUSE BILL 5537 An Act Concerning the Department of Public Health’s Recommendations Regarding Revisions to the Public Health Statutes.

It all starts at the public hearing this coming Friday. Please join us at the Legislative Office Building in the afternoon to show your support and talk to your legislators!

WHEN TO ARRIVE: To be on the safe side arrive by 3 p.m. Please Note: The hearing starts at 9 a.m. The bill we will discuss is not likely to come up until well into the afternoon or even early evening.
