October 7-13, 2013, will be Naturopathic Medicine Week, the first national awareness week in AANP’s history – and a terrific opportunity to promote the benefits of naturopathic medicine to prospective patients, legislators, and the public.

Here are some ideas for activities and events that our state associations, practicing members, and student members may want to put in play:

• Hold an open house
• Give a talk at your local library or book store
• Reach out to the media through a letter to the editor, guest column, or blog
• Promote your activity/event through Facebook and Twitter
• Promote your activity/event through your local Patch
• Arrange for photos
• Seek out interviews with local media
• Meet with civic leaders
• Ask civic leaders to issue a proclamation “recognizing” the Week
• Collaborate on a health or nutrition fair
• Sponsor a fun run/walk
• Ask your business partners to lend their support to certain events and activities
• Ask naturopathic students to help you get the word out
• Use AANP’s new tagline – Naturopathic Physicians: Natural Medicine. Real Solutions.
