Naturopathic Oncology – Basics & Latest Advances

This conference will provide clinicians a fundamental understanding of naturopathic oncology and introduce them to the latest advances in this specialty. The program is designed for naturopathic doctors and other practicing physicians to enhance their support and care for patients with cancer.

Objectives of the conference are to have a better understanding of:

-Common cancer therapies and naturopathic contraindications due to drug/herb or drug/nutrient interactions
-How to best support oncology patients utilizing naturopathic therapies, including side effect management for patients undergoing conventional treatments
-How naturopathic medicine can support patients across the spectrum, from prevention to the end-of-life transition
-Common popular alternative cancer treatments, available research, benefits and potential harm
-Lab interpretation, goals of treatment and emergent situations pertinent to an oncology patient
-The role of methylation and nutrigenomics in cancer
-The role of other modalities, such as acupuncture and manual therapy, in naturopathic oncology care
-The differences in approaching an oncology patient in a licensed versus unlicensed state
-The importance of a multidisciplinary approach in treating patients with cancer

Continuing Medical Education:

The conference will be providing 11 CME credits, one of which is pharmacy, approved through the AANP and Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine.
