How Integrative Cancer Care Improves Quality of Life

May 8, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Although quality of life is one of the most important aspects of cancer care, it often can get lost in the shuffle as patients, family and health care professionals focus on eradicating the cancer.

But maintaining a good quality of life throughout treatment can actually help you achieve that goal. Integrative cancer care puts its focus on keeping your immune system strong throughout the entire process, from diagnosis and treatment decisions to restoration of immune function and health after completion of standard treatments.

Learn more about how integrative cancer support can help cancer patients throughout the treatment process at the free talk “How Integrative Cancer Care Improves Quality of Life” from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at Bastyr Center for Natural Health.

In addition to helping you cope with difficult side effects, chronic pain, fatigue and more, integrative cancer care also aims to help you reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.

Leanna J. Standish, PhD, ND, MS, LAc, FABNO, a clinical researcher at Bastyr Integrative Oncology Research Center who will begin seeing patients at Bastyr Center in Practitioner Care March 3, 2014, and in Team Care April 7, 2014, will discuss integrative cancer care treatments and how they can help your body stay strong, including:

Naturopathic medicine
Acupuncture
Botanical medicine
Nutritional care
Mind-body medicine
