Immunity and Food – Free Talk and Cooking Demo
January 21, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
We all have our own methods to keep cold and flu at bay — maybe a brisk workout at the onset of symptoms, or an extreme dosing of immune-boosting herbs or supplements.
But have you considered adding certain foods to your diet to help keep your immune system strong?
Homemade stocks and soups are a common food people in the U.S. turn to when they’re feeling under the weather, but there are many other foods that can help you feel strong and healthy all winter long.
Learn about some of the foods that can help boost you immunity and the science behind why they work at the free cooking demonstration “Immunity and Food” from 6-7:30 Thursday, January 21, by Mirit Markowitz and Kelsey Perusse, advanced students in the Bastyr University Master of Science in Nutrition program supervised by clinical faculty Kelly Morrow, MS, RD, CD.
You will have the opportunity to try different immune-boosting foods and take home recipes.
This free workshop is part of the series “Living Naturally: Conversations on Health and Happiness with Bastyr Experts,” presented by Bastyr University and its teaching clinic, Bastyr Center for Natural Health. All of the talks take place at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle and feature an audience Q-and-A session.
