Fall Fermentation – Free Talk and Cooking Demo

October 24, 2015 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Saturday, October 24, 2015 – 10:30am to 12:00pm

You’ve likely heard about the health benefits of probiotics, which are necessary to help replenish the healthy bacteria that live in your gut and throughout your body.

Although many people have added probiotics to their diet in supplement form, another source that’s gaining popularity is fermented foods.

Learn about the benefits of adding fermented foods to your diet at a free cooking demonstration on “Fall Fermentation” from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 24, by Mirit Markowitz and Kelsey Perusse, advanced students in the Bastyr University Master of Science in Nutrition program, supervised by clinical faculty Kelly Morrow, MS, RD, CD.

You will have the opportunity to try different fermented foods that take advantage of fall’s bountiful crops, and you can take home recipes that will leave your belly and your taste buds happy and healthy.

This free workshop is part of the series “Living Naturally: Conversations on Health and Happiness with Bastyr Experts,” presented by Bastyr University and its teaching clinic, Bastyr Center for Natural Health. All of the talks take place at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle and feature an audience Q-and-A session.
