Formulating Botanicals for Successful Case Management and Good Patient Care

Cascade Anderson Geller, director and instructor of NCNM’s botanical medicine department from 1979-1992, returns to help students and practitioners deepen their knowledge and sharpen their abilities with botanical medicine.  Participants will leave the course feeling better prepared to formulate and manage formulations for people in their care, including those with complicated conditions.  Skill building exercises will focus on how to take an exemplary health history and how to compound good initial formulas.  Strong emphasis will be placed on case management including: understanding how to choose forms and brands of botanicals; when and how to make formula adjustments over time; concurrent use of botanicals and pharmaceuticals, weaning on and off botanicals, helping patients’ keep up with therapies and other topics of interest to those wishing to excel in practicing botanical medicine.
