This seminar will impart a deep understanding of the Chinese medicine perspective on infertility. Haung-Lao classic teachings as well as other great classical works have contributed to the workshop content. We will examine the TCM patterns of imbalance presenting as infertility and the associated Western medicine correlates. Using a case-based teaching format whenever possible, we investigate the theory, the mechanisms of disease and treatment according to both Chinese medicine and Western medicine. Topics to be covered include: premature ovarian failure, PCOS, reproductive immunology, endometriosis, and implantation issues. Advanced topics such as treatment of recalcitrant conditions and IVF preparation will be addressed. The seminar will also provide a detailed explanation of the specifics of Western reproductive procedural medicine, including labs, protocols, glossary, and integrative treatment strategies. Acupuncture and herbal treatment therapies and protocols will be extensively reviewed, and special attention paid to the efficacy of massage, TCM nutrition, and breathing techniques as adjunct treatment.
