A vital part of the UB campus is the Health Sciences Center, which houses the UB Clinics where health sciences degree candidates work side-by-side with clinicians. The UB Clinics offer members of the community a centralized location for evaluation and treatment in the following four clinics: Dental Hygiene, Naturopathic Medicine, Chiropractic and Acupuncture.

The College of Naturopathic Medicine:

Started in 1997, the College of Naturopathic Medicine has been graduating physicians who are revolutionizing healthcare in the Northeast and across the country.  The University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine is committed to training physicians for the 21st century: doctors who are leaders in the emerging paradigm of healthcare, blending research and innovative technologies with the art of healing and natural therapeutics to provide patient-centered care.

The College of Naturopathic Medicine is accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME), the accrediting agency for naturopathic colleges and programs in the United States and Canada.  Students and graduates of naturopathic colleges and programs accredited or pre-accredited by CNME are eligible to apply for the Naturopathic Physician Licensing Examinations as administered by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners.  In addition, the College of Naturopathic Medicine is accredited by the Connecticut State Department of Higher Education to offer the degree of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine.

The Opportunity:

The Dean for the College of Naturopathic Medicine is the chief academic officer of the College and reports to the Vice Provost for Health Sciences of the University. Working collaboratively with the faculty, the Dean is responsible for the effective delivery of educational programs ensuring that they are consistent with the mission of the University of Bridgeport and of the College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead educational effectiveness, assessment and planning, and accreditation compliance for the College of Naturopathic Medicine.
  • Grow and build the Naturopathic College.  Working with the Dean of Admissions, establish enrollment goals and collaborate with the admissions department in achieving them.
  • Enhance the reputation and branding of UB’s Naturopathic Program (regionally and nationally).
  • Collaborate with faculty in curriculum reviews and updates.
  • Provide development and mentorship to the faculty and those who seek to be future administrators.
  • Serve as the CNME designee of the University of Bridgeport with regard to the College of Naturopathic Medicine as well as other relevant accrediting regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare the operating budget of the College and monitor of all financial transactions relative to same.
  • Approve all faculty and non-faculty personnel within the College.  Recommend to the Provost and Vice-Provost hiring, reappointment, rank, promotion and tenure, or termination of employees.
  • Represent the College on the Provost’s Council and other appropriate University committees and insure the full integration of the College of Naturopathic Medicine within the Division of Health Sciences and the University of Bridgeport.
  • Provide leadership for College for fundraising in conjunction with the Institutional Advancement department.  Represent the College at a professional, public relations, alumni, and fundraising events.
  • Serve as the ex-officio member on all College of Naturopathic committees.
  • Be available for other duties as requested by the Provost and Vice Provost.

Position Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate or other terminal degree.
  • Progressively responsible experience in an administrative capacity in the health sciences, medical, or naturopathic sector.  Administrative experience at the level of dean/director/associate director in an accredited university or college required.
  • A high level of knowledge and skills in every aspect of budget management, curriculum development, educational effectiveness assessment, program strategic planning, accreditation compliance, faculty and student issues, and enrollment management.
  • A commitment to the principles of Naturopathic Medicine with knowledge of current practices and trends in naturopathic medicine.
